Probed rknn_matmul_create for every int4 dtype. RK3588 supports ONLY W8A8 and
W4A4. All weight-only int4 modes (int8xint4, fp16xint4) are rejected:
"unsupported matmul dtype ... in this platform". So int4 forces W4A4 = int4
activations, whose transformer outliers dont fit in 4 bits -
Implemented the prepA/collectC <-> rknn_matmul_run overlap as an M-chunk
software pipeline (correct, byte-identical). Flat at every chunk depth.
Timing the CPU-prep section with the NPU running vs idle showed it runs +43%
slower under overlap (1973 -> 2827 us): the "idle" cores contend for DDR with
the NPU streaming weights. rknn_matmul_run does not busy-poll (cores 96-100%
idle) but the bus is saturated. No-go; not merged.
Campaign through-line: decode, GEMM ceiling (30.5%), and prefill overlap are
all DDR-bandwidth-bound. Only levers left are fewer bytes (int4, broken) or
fewer passes (MTP, shipped).

Key result: vendor int8 GEMM tops out at 1.83 TOPS (30.5% of the rated 6.0,

quantize_fp32_to_int8 cast roundf(v) straight to int8_t. With scale = amax/127
the value should never exceed 127, but one ULP of error in iscale can round to
128, which wraps to -128 and injects a sign-flipped activation outlier. The
int4 path already clamped to +/-7; int8 did not.
Latent, not active: greedy output on gemma-4-12b-it-Q8_0 is byte-identical

The first CPU-only numbers were taken while an unrelated ollama llama-server
was inferencing at ~450% CPU on the same A76 cores. Re-ran both configs after
confirming four consecutive idle samples, at -r 3.
CPU only (LLAMA_RKNPU2=OFF): pp512 8.70 +/- 0.01 tg128 1.91 +/- 0.00
RKNPU (model only): pp512 38.31 +/- 0.03 tg128 2.35 +/- 0.00
Contention moved the CPU figures by ~0.5% (within noise); NPU was unaffected.
Note: --device none does NOT disable the rknpu2 backend (it intercepts MUL_MAT
via supports_op rather than registering as an offload device). A real CPU-only

Q4_K weights previously hit the "Unsupported weight type for NPU pipeline"
assert and fell back to CPU. Route them through dequantize_row_q4_K and map
GGML_TYPE_Q4_K to W4A4_HADAMARD, matching the existing Q4_0 handling.
Note: W4A4_HADAMARD is the lower-accuracy of the two W4A4 pipelines

Experiment: the A-prep OMP loop heap-allocated ready_row (plus signed_row and full_hadamard_row on the Hadamard path) once per row -- up to M*(1-3) malloc/free per k-segment per matmul. Move to per-thread pools sized omp_get_max_threads(); resize() reuses the buffer after the first row. Byte-identical (consumers read only the fully-written prefix). pp300/512/700 35.8/41.6/40.6 -> 36.5/42.1/42.4 (+2-4%); tg128 2.93. Cumulative vs baseline: pp300 +19%, tg +14%.
Experiment: decode runs M=1; opening+joining an OpenMP parallel region per row (A-prep and C-collect loops) is pure fork/join overhead. Guard both pragmas with if(M>=8) so decode runs serially while prefill (M>=300) stays parallel. Byte-identical output. tg128 2.57 -> 2.73-2.80 (+6-9%), tg256 2.65; pp unchanged (35.8/41.6/40.6 for 300/512/700). Zero risk (same math, threading policy only).
Experiment: with one K-segment (K<=8192, the common case) each dst element is written exactly once (N-segments are disjoint), so the full-MxN memset and the read-modify-write accumulate are dead work. Write each element once; keep the +=/memset path for multi-K. Byte-identical output. Throughput ~neutral (NPU-bound, so CPU-side traffic saving is marginal): E1 pp300/pp512/pp700/tg 37.01/40.25/40.03/2.61 -> E2 35.8/41.1/40.3/2.57 (pp512/pp700 +1-2%, pp300 within run variance). Kept for traffic reduction and as prerequisite for E5 NEON collect.
Experiment: next_power_of_two pads prefill M up to the next pow2 (300->512), wasting matmul work. Switch to ceil-to-128 for M>128 (300->384); keep pow2 for M<=128. Byte-identical output (padding only). Baseline pp300/pp512/pp700/tg128: 30.66/40.42/40.17/2.58 t/s. Measured: 37.01/40.25/40.03/2.61 t/s. pp300 +20.7%; pp512/pp700 flat (ubatch<=512 caps M; 700=512+188, both bucketings map 188->256); tg unchanged.

* feat: Plumb python-side vision projector names and mappings
There are several awkward things here:
1. Most of these are essentially identical to the audio qformer tensors. On
the c++ side, that's mapped using the prefix, so the rest of the GGUF
name needs to align, but on the python side there's no prefix notion, so
they all get duplicated.
2. There are a couple of net-new tensors for vision, in particular
PROJ_NORM. In both speech and vision, the QF_PROJ_NORM is qualified as
belonging to the qformer portion, but the GGUF name is simply proj_norm
which conflicts with the ideal name for this new PROJ_NORM that is not
qualified as part of the qformer. To get around this, I used
"proj_layernorm" as the GGUF name.

The multi-projector stack has a strange asymmetry based on how it's

projectors, but the output of the "first" (by inp_embd index) projector is
automatically consumed as if it were a standard single-projector mmproj,
so the deepstack portion needs to only contain the 1-N entries.

* feat: Add new clip APIs for post-tile-encoding assembly
Granite 4 Vision uses llava-next style pack-and-unpad which requires
injecting the learned newline after each row of the tile grid. A row here
is a single row of the grid which is composed of (grid_x * cols_per_tile) *
(grid_y * rows_per_tile), so the result is newlines injected in between
individual tile rows, thus not something that can be handled with the
standard llava-uhd block-wise endcoding.

* feat: Add model interfaces for granite 4 vision assembler
I'm on the fence about the best organization of this. These free functions
allow the per-architecture logic in clip.cpp to access the model-specific
graph building, but they still require a fair bit of model-specific logic
in clip.cpp which is not ideal.
I think a better approach may be to replicate what is done with the
graph builders themselves (and possibly even make the assembler part of the
model's existing graph builder).

* refactor(mtmd): Consolidate assembler logic into clip_assembler class family
Just like `clip_graph` is the base class for building the model-specific

how the encoder pattern is implemented where the model-specific logic lives
in a subclass co-located with the encoder graph builder that gets
constructed by a simple factory method.

* refactor: Fully revert changes to n_deepstack_layers and qwen3vl*
Since we're going to keep the GGUF KVs separate, it makes sense to just
keep the hparams separate too to limit the scope of this branch. The down
side is that n_deepstack_layers and deepstack_mapping_arr are potentially
conflicting.

* fix: Revert removal of "is_deepstack_layers" GGUF KV
This KV is not used at all on the c++ side, so it's fully dead, but there's
also no need to conflate this cleanup with the addition of G4V.

* fix: Tighter and more flexible code for g4v_build_block
This could be refactored to look a lot more like granite-speech, but the
overall block constructs before/after the qformer are pretty different, so
for now I'm going to leave it as is and just tighten a bit.

* fix: Always initialize deepstack_mapping_arr with -1 values
This was causing `test-llama-archs` to fail, likely due to trying to save
the uninitialized values, then re-loading them. It's safer to always
initialize so that other models don't forget and end up with undefined
behavior.

NOTE: format_string is not available in granite.cpp (and including

This PR attempts to slim down the dependencies for build-msys jobs
making the same changes that we applied in whisper.cpp to reduce the
size of the github actions cache, and should also improve the run time
due to fewer dependencies that need to be installed.
I realize this is a scheduled job but I think it would still make sense
to apply these changes.

mmvq:
Port the ncols_dst optimization from ggml-cuda/mmvq.cu to SYCL.
Read weights once per dispatch instead of once per column.
Covers all standard quant types + reorder paths for Q4_0, Q8_0,
Q3_K, Q4_K, Q5_K, Q6_K. IQ types (except IQ4_XS) excluded due to
incompatible vec_dot signatures.
ggml-sycl:
The weight reorder was only bootstrapped on single-token mat-vec
(ne[1] == 1). Speculative / MTP verify issues only multi-column mat-vec,
so it never triggered the reorder and ran on the slower non-reorder
kernel. Bootstrap it on small multi-column batches (ne[1] <= 8) too.
